I have been teaching for 33 years and 18 of those have been at Saint Dunstan. What's important to me is to try and get children to love learning as much as I love it. I try to get students to go beyond what is in the book and look for more information on the subjects I teach. Trying to reach each child and to find out what works for one is not necessarily the same for the others.
I had at one time a private piano teaching studio in my home and gave private piano lessons there for 13 years. I have been Music Director at Saint Dunstan Church for 22 years. I work with an Adult Choir and a Children's Choir. In 22 years, I have played for approximately 5,000 Masses, 1300 funerals, 350 weddings and enumerable special occasion Masses.
SCIENCE: In the last four years, I have won for the school (working with students) 4 major science awards from SEFMD (Science and Engineering Fair of Metropolitan Detroit). These are Junior Grand Awards: Brandon Starr, Seamus Kaye (2 years), and Cameron Gawne. I'm very proud of the work the students take to Cobo Hall each year. The first year we went to Cobo Hall I was allowed to take only 10 students. We are now permitted to take 50 7th and 8th grade students.
CLASS SCHEDULE:
(Grades 5, 6, 7, 8 Science) (Grades 7 & 8 American History)
SUPPLY LIST: I wish I had enough supplies in the Science Room so that each child could have a beaker, a meter stick, a balance, etc., etc., etc!!!!!
FAVORITE QUOTE:
"Winners never quit. Quitters never win." Don't know who wrote it, but the students seem to enjoy it.
